6,715 Bank Officer Jobs, 3 Banks Still Counting: Inside IBPS PO Recruitment 2026

IBPS has announced one of its larger Probationary Officer recruitment drives in recent years. The CRP PO/MT-XVI notification for 2026 lists 6,715 indicative vacancies for Probationary Officer and Management Trainee posts across 11 public sector banks, roughly 1,500 more than the previous cycle.

The number isn’t final yet. Three banks — Indian Bank, UCO Bank, and Union Bank of India — have marked their seats as ‘Not Reported’ in the current notification, so the total vacancy count could rise once they confirm their figures. Reserved seats for PwBD candidates are already set at 73 (hearing impaired), 70 (orthopedically challenged), 67 (visually impaired), and 77 (intellectual disability).

Any graduate aged 20 to 30 years as on 1 July 2026 can apply online at ibps.in, with the application window running from 1 July to 21 July 2026. Reserved-category candidates get age relaxation — 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC non-creamy layer, 10 years for PwBD, and 5 years for ex-servicemen — and pay a lower application fee of ₹175 versus ₹850 for General/OBC/EWS applicants.

The selection process spans four stages: a qualifying Preliminary Exam, a Main Examination with both objective and descriptive components, a mandatory Personality Test, and a Common Interview worth 100 marks, with the final merit list weighing Main Exam and Interview scores 80:20.

This year’s Main Exam pattern has changed — the objective section now has 170 questions worth 200 marks, up from 145 previously, spread across Reasoning Ability, General/Banking/Digital Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation, still within a 160-minute window. IBPS has also removed the Credit History/CIBIL Score clause from this year’s eligibility conditions.

Selected Probationary Officers start at a basic pay of about ₹48,480 monthly, with total gross pay — including DA, HRA and other allowances — running roughly ₹88,000 to ₹92,000 depending on where they’re posted. The Preliminary Exam is tentatively scheduled for 22-23 August 2026.
